Project Manager

Responsible for managing all aspects of projects that bring “off net” buildings and customers “on net” in Northern Virginia, Maryland and Washington DC.  Managed budgeting, engineering, permitting, construction, splicing and installations to deliver everything from 100 MGB service to 10 Gig DWDM and even dark fiber.  Would manage and direct projects from the point where the contract was signed until service was delivered to the customer.  Average project interval was 90 to 120 days.

Senior Systems Engineer / Project Manager

Responsible for all aspects of an optical regional area network (ORAN) for a large government agency covering 3 states and the District of Columbia using Ethernet over DWDM.  This included sales, design, fiber construction oversight, equipment installation and maintenance.  Also responsible for the operational support of two additional optical metropolitan area networks for that agency.  filled the role of 24x7 escalation point for operational support, problem resolution, and network modifications.  Responsible for creating and maintaining all network documentation to include fiber maps, rack drawings and detailed circuit information for each of the three networks.  Current position responsibilities also include total project management of the ORAN.

Lead technical project manager of a four person team.  Responsible for managing multiple large scale projects to include: backhaul optimization, new hub builds, quality of service initiatives and "on-net" circuit migrations for the Qwest Dial network.  Define each team member's specific areas of responsibility per project.  Produce project plan for each project that defines the scope of the work and includes a customer impact statement as well as a thorough cost analysis.  Interface regularly with management counterparts of various groups inside and outside of Qwest to ensure high quality/timely project completions.  Provide technical expertise to other Qwest project management teams as necessary.

Lead Internet  Engineer, Dial Access Network

Lead internet engineer for a team of four.  Responsible for overseeing the installation and configuration of all Dial Access equipment to include Cisco 7206, 5800, 5400, 7507, 2900, 6509, 12008, Extreme 48 Ethernet Switches, Nortel CVX and Juniper M40 Edge routers.  Also responsible for the troubleshooting and turn up of point to point DS3’s, T-1s and egress DS3’s.   Knowledgeable in BGP and OSPF routing protocols.   Experienced in troubleshooting both PRI’s and IMT’s using SS7.  Responsible for equipment augmentation, configuration and circuit additions for over 80 equipment sites and 40 LCA’s.  Also responsible for the planning, design and implementation of over 40 new sites.  Duties included rack elevations, DC and AC power requirements, data cabling schemes and standards.

Responsible for producing detailed installation packages for new and existing hubs in more than nine countries. Packages included detailed drawings; install instructions, wiring diagrams, port assignments, power requirements and equipment lists.   Supervised and/or performed the installation of equipment for the Dial Access Network in Europe and Scandinavia.  Hub builds involved the installation of Cisco routers, Lucent TNT's, Lucent GRF's, Fore Systems ATM Switches, HP and Garrett Ethernet hubs. Configured Cisco console routers and Lucent TNT's.

Engineered, installed, and maintained DSO, DS1 and DS3 level circuits traversing the Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN), Defense Information Systems Network (DISN), and Pen Net IDNX networks.  Troubleshot circuits traversing FCC-100, FCC-98, and 2048 multiplexers. Created and maintained circuit history files for all existing circuits.  Lead technician of Patch and Test facility; manager for secure communications traversing the facility at Osan Air Base Korea. Trained in tactical communications during voluntary temporary duty in Saudi Arabia from August to November 1993, 4402 Combat Communications Squadron. Top Secret SCI (multiple compartments) security clearance, 1992 to 1997.  5 year update completed early 1997.
